"Fringe Tree"
Landscape has become a difficult category to explore, as it’s pictorial limitations are nearly impossible to explore new.
The subjects of these images has been grown, pruned and nurtured by myself before photographing them.
"Fringe Tree” is at first the document of the act of seeing photographically . These works are everyday events from the natural world that are gestures to the world of ideas. The leap from fact to idea can be made through obscuring rather than revealing. We are drawn to the shadow. That which is hidden can be more compelling than what we know. Using methods to blur, obscure and redirect the eye towards an inconclusive image or mystery, the artist’s aim is to draw the viewer in an unfamiliar direction.
The images I create distort scale, perspective and tonality or color; to create new environments pictorially.
