Landscapes and Compositions
Landscapes
Like glimpses from the edge of urbanization, these images depict a world in which the evidence of human habitation is incidental, marginal, or only inferred. The viewer stands at a discreet distance, having emerged from the woods to find an unexpected clearing, a house, a garden in cultivation. Selective focus, point of view and a sense of mystery pull these images into a new abstraction.

Compositions
Among the group, the square compositions function as a new way of seeing for me. In these images, the use of selective focus and softened areas is exaggerated to enhance tonality and the sensation of movement. The subject becomes less important than the atmospheric and compositional effect that is evoked.
